Gather around the fire as Santa's Candy Castle recreates the experience of chestnut roasting as it was done centuries ago by American pioneers. Hear the fascinating story of why chestnut roasting is America's oldest Christmas tradition, why the tradition has nearly been lost, and the efforts to preserve the tradition for future generations. Watch a demonstration of how American pioneers prepared chestnuts and roasted them over an open fire. And taste a freshly roasted chestnut and share our thoughts on the unique taste.
Guests will even have the chance to grab a long-handled roasting pan and try their hand at chestnut roasting—it's the perfect Christmas photo op!
This is Santa's Candy Castle's 21st year hosting the free event. It will take place four Saturdays during the holiday season: November 28 and December 5, 12, and 19, 2026*.
Free and open to the public. No ticket required.
This event is part of the three-weekend Santa Claus Christmas Celebration, a town-wide celebration full of festive events for the entire family.
*For the safety of guests and staff, severe weather or heavy rains may cause cancellation. Watch the Santa's Candy Castle Facebook page for announcements the day of the event.
