The Spencer County Tourism Commission plans to award up to $8,000 in grant money to help qualified organizations, businesses, events, or tourism-related entities introduce new events in 2020 or 2021.
“Spencer County offers so many things for visitors do to and we cannot wait to see what new events might be planned for this area to attract even more visits,” says Spencer County Visitors Bureau Executive Director Melissa Arnold. “The sky is the limit and we’re happy to brainstorm ideas with anyone looking to bring a new event to the county.”
Grant applications will be accepted through September 1, 2019. At the end of October, the commission plans to award a grant(s) to assist new events supporting tourism in Spencer County, Indiana. Applicants must demonstrate promotion of the event beyond a 60-mile radius to increase potential visitor attendance from outside the immediate area and possible overnights.
Visitors Bureau staff are available to explain the grant
program to interested parties. The guidelines and application are online at SantaClausInd.org/Tourism-Partners.

The Spencer County Tourism Commission was established
in 1994 to market the county’s attractions to visitors, using the proceeds
collected by the county innkeeper’s tax, which is currently five percent. The
mission of the Tourism Commission is to increase overnight visitation to
Spencer County’s lodging facilities by advertising and publicizing its natural,
historical and man-made attractions as a family destination.
