In southern Indiana, warm, summery weather can last well into October. So, even though Labor Day weekend marks the “unofficial” beginning of fall, there are still plenty of ways families can savor the last bit of summer all throughout the Santa Claus, Indiana, area.
The holiday weekend is packed with outdoor fun, from hitting the beach at Lincoln State Park to making a splash at Holiday World & Splashin' Safari.
1. Lake Lincoln beach at Lincoln State Park is open through Labor Day, so be sure to make time for one more day of sand and sun.
2. Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari is bringing the fun all weekend long, from Friday night through Monday. Kick things off with roller coaster rides in the dark at Friday Night Live. Then spend the rest of the weekend enjoying magic shows, interactive fun zones, and more Kids World activities!
3. Have a relaxing weekend on the patio at Monkey Hollow Winery and Distillery. Taste great local wines and spirits, and on Saturday, August 31, enjoy live music.
4. If you're camping at Lincoln State Park or enjoying a cozy cabin at Lincoln Pines Lakefront Resort, Santa's Lakeside Cottages, or Sun Outdoors Lake Rudolph, enjoy a little family time around the fire!
5. Hit the trails at Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial to see the animals at the Living Historical Farm, check out the Cabin Site Memorial, and pay your respects at Nancy Hanks Lincoln’s gravesite.
6. The golf course is a great place to be on Labor Day weekend. Play 18 holes at Christmas Lake Golf Club. Or if you’re short on time, play the nine-hole courses at The Rustic or Chrisney Golf Course.
7. It’s the perfect weekend for a picnic. And one of this area’s beautiful community parks is the perfect place to host one!
8. Get outside and get entertained with a movie night at Holiday Drive-In. The drive-in is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with a special triple feature showing on screen 1 on Sunday night!
