FAQ and Answers

Posted on April 28, 2016

As the summer season approaches, the days get longer, the temperature gets warmer, and the town of Santa Claus welcomes thousands of visitors. Naturally, we get asked a lot of questions during this time. Whether it’s where to locate the nearest restrooms, where to purchase a selfie stick, or if we personally know Santa (in fact, we do!), we’ve heard it all. The good news is, we are always more than happy to answer any questions you might have. So without further ado, here is a list of FAQs and the answers:

Where can we get pictures taken with Santa?

It depends! There are over 20 different Santa statues arranged throughout the town of Santa Claus that you’re more than welcome to snap a selfie with. But if you’re looking for the real deal, the Santa Claus Christmas Store offers pictures with Santa from May through December.

Where can we write letters to Santa?

Also during May through December, everyone is invited to write letters to Santa at the Santa Claus Museum & Village. We’d recommend taking a few minutes to browse through previous letters to Santa, some of which are decades old. The old letters will undoubtedly make you smile. At any time throughout the year, letters to Santa may be mailed to: Santa Claus, P.O. Box 1, Santa Claus, IN 47579.

Where is the closest laundry mat?

The closest laundry mat is in nearby Dale, less than 10 minutes from Santa Claus. The next closest is in Huntingburg, just 20 minutes north of Santa Claus.

Where can I get Wi-Fi (Wireless internet access)?

The Spencer County Visitors Bureau has Wi-Fi and anyone is welcome to sit in our conference room if it is not in use. The list of businesses with Wi-Fi is constantly growing. Conveniently, Holiday World has a kennel that is available during park hours. Other local kennel options include Hilltop Veterinary Services in Lamar, St. Francis Animal Health Care in Dale, and Santa Paws Pet Park in Dale.

Where is the nearest Wal-Mart?

Many times you can find what you are looking for somewhere closer, such as the Santa Claus Dollar General or CVS in Ferdinand. For swimwear and swim shoes for those visiting Holiday World, the in-park shops offer a nice section. The closest Wal-Mart is in Jasper, Indiana. Additionally, Wal-Mart in Tell City is good for those who don’t want to get slowed down by summer traffic, or who may be staying in Tell City.

Where are the nearest public restrooms?

Public restrooms are available at the Spencer County Visitors Bureau and the Santa Claus Christmas Store. If stairs are an issue for you, please choose the store. You can also find restrooms at the Circle S in Santa Claus.

Unfortunately, we do not have a Rudolph’s Diner. That was a fictitious diner produced by Radio Shack for their commercial. However, we do have St. Nick’s Restaurant that is Christmas themed and in the lower level of Santa’s Lodge.

How much does it cost to enter the town of Santa Claus?

There is no cost to simply enter or visit the town of Santa Claus.

How much does it cost to enter Lincoln’s Indiana Boyhood Home?

This is a common misconception. Rather than a place itself, Lincoln's Boyhood Home is a term to describe sites throughout Spencer County. It is only a reference to Abe calling this beautiful area his home from age 7 to 21. Since he spent his formative years here, we call the area his boyhood home. Within Spencer County, there are several sites and attractions to visit which honor his time here and the legacy he left behind.

Do you have to be catholic to stay at the Saint Meinrad Archabbey Guest House?

Absolutely not. Anyone, no matter what their religious preference is, is welcome to lodge in the peaceful, charming rooms of the Archabbey Guest House.

Where can I go sledding?

There are currently no public spots that accommodate or allow sledding.   Hopefully, this will help take out some of the stress and guesswork from your trip planning so that you can focus on what’s most important: having fun. For more information or if you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to send us message.
