It’s Not the Same Without You

When we decided to ask some of our local tourism partners about what they enjoy most about their jobs, we had no idea what to expect. We asked those from shops, attractions, hotels, and more. It turns out that YOU, our visitors, are one of the main reasons people around here love their jobs. According to Andy at Santa's Lodge, "Seeing the smiles on peoples' faces when they are truly enjoying themselves while visiting and are able to forget their worries," is at the top of his list of favorites. Kristi from Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial simply said that meeting new people every day is her favorite part about working in our local tourism industry. "People come to the area so excited and ready to see what there is to visit," reflected Kristi. "One of my favorite parts is interacting with such a variety of people, finding out where they're from and how far they have come to visit our wonderfully unique but small town," reports Kathy from Holly Tree Christmas Shop (pictured on the left) when asked about what draws her to work each day. "It's so fun to have people come into the shop and excited to be in a town called Santa Claus!" Here at the Visitors Bureau, we just love helping visitors learn about everything there is to do near Holiday World. "Did you know Abe Lincoln grew up just down the road?" is a question we ask frequently. And, of course, we love seeing Santa walk down the sidewalk to greet visitors or even in line at the deli. It's a perk of working in an office located in Santa Claus, Indiana.
