Hit the Trails

Want to stay active and get a little exercise during your stay in the area? Whether you want to bike your way through the town of Santa Claus or hike your way through Lincoln State Park, there are trails for that. So, lace up your walking shoes and air up your bike tires… it’s time to hit the trails! 

Trails In and Near Santa Claus, Indiana 

From paved surfaces to more rustic terrains, you’ll find the perfect places to walk, run, hike, or bike. Here are a few places to start…
Ray Yellig Trail – With a mix of concrete and crushed rock surfaces, this 1.2-mile double-loop nature trail is a popular spot for walkers… and their dogs! 
Christmas Lake Village-Yellig Trail – Want to shop while you walk? This trail passes right by Kringle Place Shopping Center where the Santa Claus Christmas StoreEvergreen Boutique & Christmas ShopSanta’s TOYS, and the Santa Claus Post Office are located. 
Mr. Lincoln’s Neighborhood Walk – This 1.7-mile moderate trail inside Lincoln State Park takes hikers past the Little Pigeon Primitive Baptist Church, the gravesite of Sarah Lincoln Grigsby, and other interesting sites.
Lincoln Lake Trail – Get the best views of Lake Lincoln inside Lincoln State Park along this 1.5-mile trail. It features an easy terrain… and a side loop leads hikers to the Fire Tower.
Trail of 12 Stones – This 1.1-mile trail is located inside Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial and begins at the Cabin Site Memorial on the Thomas Lincoln Farm. Stones commemorating major events in Lincoln’s life and career are arranged along the trail.

More Places to Stretch Your Legs 

Looking for other places to stretch your legs? Take a leisurely stroll around the grounds of Saint Meinrad Archabbey. Plan a picnic at Chrisney Park then work off the calories on the connected trails. Or get the best views of the Mighty Ohio when you walk, run, or pedal along the river at the Bluff in Rockport.
