Hello from Santa Claus Station
Posted on October 19, 2012

It's still mid-October with Halloween right around the corner but the
Santa Claus Post Office is gearing up for the Christmas season with the Santa Claus Postmark. With Christmas just over two months away, some have already stocked up on gifts or are planning their lists while others are waiting, and waiting until the season is officially here.
The 2012 special picture postmark (can you say that 10 times fast?) has been selected and will soon be a cancellation stamp for more than 400,000 pieces of mail. That's right, the only post office in the world with Santa's name averages 400,000 pieces of mail in December alone. Other months average at only 13,000 so the elves at the post office are busy as can be during the holidays!
Cassie Fischer, a native of the town of Santa Claus, is the artist of this year's holiday postmark. We discovered she has spent her summers working where Santa and his helpers can be found! Cassie has worked at the Santa Claus Christmas Store and Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort. I'll bet these Christmassy places helped her capture the spirit of America's Christmas Hometown for the 2012 postmark, don't you think?
