Visitors Bureau Hires Indianapolis-Based Firm to Conduct Tourism Research

Posted on July 8, 2011

The Spencer County Visitors Bureau has hired an Indianapolis-based firm to conduct economic impact research and a visitor profile study through county tourism visits.

Strategic Marketing & Research, Inc. will collect information from travelers and potential guests to better understand how the destination can be enhanced. The study will survey visitor spending and the tourism economic impact at the county's lodging facilities, attractions, campgrounds, and restaurants.

"We're interested in hearing from our visitors so we can learn more about what they enjoy and what more they would like to see in our destination," says Melissa Wilkinson, executive director of the Spencer County Visitors Bureau.

Information will be collected throughout the summer and the results will be shared with county tourism businesses and entrepreneurs.

Spencer County is home to nationally known attractions such as Holiday World & Splashin' Safari, Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort, and Lincoln's Indiana Boyhood Home with its national and state parks. The Visitors Bureau encourages guests to stay overnight and visit county attractions, shops, and restaurants.
