Trip Tips: What to Wear

Posted on March 3, 2015

When it comes to what to wear on vacation, comfort is key.

With so many fun activities to experience in the area, extended periods of walking is expected. Therefore, durable shoes should be at the top of your packing list. You’ll need tennis shoes for exploring the trails at Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial or while golfing at Christmas Lake Golf Course. If flip-flops are your thing, you’re allowed to keep them on while you try all of the slides and rides at Splashin’ Safari. Be sure to check out Holiday World’s dress code here to aid your wardrobe decisions. Comfy clothes are perfectly suited for riding rides, touring sites like Saint Meinrad Archabbey, and riding horses at Santa’s Stables. Bring your swimsuit so you can enjoy all of the water activities at Splashin’ Safari and Lincoln State Park’s Lake Lincoln. Many of the nearby places to stay offer pools and splash pads, including Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort, Santa’s Lakeside Cottages, and Lincoln Pines Lakefront Resort. Forget to pack your swimsuit? The Safari Outpost inside Splashin’ Safari is stocked with all of your swimwear needs. Remember that it’s vacation, not a fashion show, so leave your precious heirloom jewelry and fancy accessories at home.  Swap out your day-to-day handbag for a waterproof tote or crossbody bag to easily carry what you’ll need during your trip. Santa's Stables One accessory that is vital is a pair of sunglasses, especially if avoiding squinting in all of those vacay selfies is important to you. Perhaps the most important thing to wear during your trip is sunscreen; don’t forget to pack the appropriate SPF to avoid sun damage! If you're visiting Holiday World & Splashin' Safari, take advantage of the free sunscreen!
