Tantalizing the Taste Buds

Posted on June 18, 2014

A popular question asked by visitors inquiring about dining options is, “Where do we eat?” A vacation is NOT the time to be counting calories. You are entitled to splurge a little. Maybe "encouraged" is more correct, as you come across foods that you may not normally find at home. Here are just a few of my favorite things to splurge on... Breakfast – Remember when Holiday World tweeted a pic that introduced their honey butter chicken biscuits? I instantly pinned it to Pinterest and ogled it every day until the park opened for the season. And then when that magical day happened, well, it was like Christmas morning unwrapping that oh-so-delicious sandwich. Another favorite early morning eatery is the nearby New Boston Tavern. A colleague mentioned that she likes to visit the local hotspot for a satisfying Sunday brunch. Lunch – The wonderful staff at St. Nick’s Restaurant doesn’t even have to ask what I want order when I dine. In fact, they would be shocked if I didn’t order my usual spaghetti and meat sauce meal. Piles of angel hair pasta topped with a hearty sauce – so good! Dinner – Anytime my family heads to the Holiday Drive In we make a stop at Angelo’s in Rockport beforehand. We order a couple of freshly baked pizzas and breadsticks to enjoy while watching the latest summer flicks. I tend to get an extra side of breadsticks for myself...order them and you’ll understand why. Dessert – I could pen a short novel based on my love for the Frozen Hot Chocolate at Santa’s Candy Castle. It’s simply the best thing in the world. I stop in several times a week to get my cup of this deliciously decadent treat. As I finish eating my fresh-from-the-oven chocolate and butterscotch muffin (my latest favorite thing!) from the Kringle Haus Werkstatt, I invite you to share your favorite things to eat below. You can also view a list of local places to eat and menus here.
