Google Your Visit

Posted on January 12, 2022

When you’re planning a vacation, often the first thing you do is hit up Google. You can search for everything from where to stay to where to play. And when you’re visiting Santa Claus, Indiana, and sites throughout Lincoln’s Indiana Boyhood Home, you’ll find lots of both.
But WHAT phrases and terms do you search for when you’re planning a visit to this area? We keep an eye out for the keywords that potential visitors are using to find out about this area. It’s pretty interesting… and sometimes confusing!

Your Favorite Google Search Keywords

“Near Holiday World” – This area is home to an amazing theme park, Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari, that brings in approximately a million visitors during the summer. So obviously, diligent Google-ers want to know about the best lodging, restaurants, shopping, and more that are “near Holiday World.”
“Santa Claus Land” – Until 1984, Holiday World was known by its former name, Santa Claus Land. More than two decades later, some visitors are still searching for the old name (or sometimes “Santa Land”). We think many of these visitors might be parents and grandparents who visited “back in the day” and are now hoping to share the experience with the kids in their lives! Black and white photo shows families enjoying train rides and a merry-go-round in the early days of Santa Claus Land “Santa Clause, Indiana” – Yes, we meant to spell “Santa Clause” with an “e.” No, it’s not the correct way to spell the town’s name. But it is an easy mistake to make and one that pops up in Google searches time and time again!
“Lincoln State Park” – Indiana state parks have seen a surge of visitors in the last two years thanks to offering a ton of outdoor fun, from camping to hiking to swimming. So of course, this area’s own Lincoln State Park is a popular search term for potential visitors. Just don’t get too confused if Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park shows up in your Google results… that one's in North Dakota! Foreground shows grass, trees, a picnic table and outdoor grill with Lake Lincoln's boathouse in the background surrounded by water and paddleboats “Spencer, Indiana” – When you visit the towns of Santa Claus, Lincoln City, Dale, Rockport, or St. Meinrad, you’re visiting Spencer County, Indiana. But there’s also a town in Indiana named “Spencer.” It’s less than 100 miles away from this area, so just be careful not to take any wrong turns on your trip here!
