It's no secret that Santa Claus, Indiana, and sites throughout Lincoln's Indiana Boyhood Home are number one for family fun. But, have you ever considered how perfect this place is for the whole family? The whole family, beyond the parents and kiddos, that is.

Where should you stay?

There definitely isn't a shortage of lodging options for large or small groups. There are several vacation rentals to choose from that can sleep 10+ guests. If you want a little separation from your in-laws, cottages or cabins are another great option. Lincoln Pines Lakefront Resort and Santa's Lakeside Cottages provide the perfect options for a family that wants to be close, but wants a little privacy, too. They both offer covered picnic areas for the family, and playgrounds the kids will love, and other on-site activities. Camping is as much of an adventure and activity as it is a spot to sleep under the stars. Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort has tons of activities on site including golf cart parades, movie nights, and even mini-golf!Generations of Fun Camping at Lincoln State Park is another option. With peaceful, scenic views and tons of recreational activities, families can rent paddle boats, go fishing, and hike along the trails. What should you do?

Take a walk through Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, and appreciate the fact that you are walking in the same woods a young Abe Lincoln lived in from 1816 to 1830. The whole family will love seeing farm animals on the Living Historical Farm. You might even learn something new at the museum inside the Visitor Center. You definitely don't want to miss all history related to Abraham Lincoln history at the Lincoln Pioneer Village & Museum. Tour 13 Lincoln era cabins, and visit the museum housing hundreds of artifacts. Visit the Santa Claus Museum & Village to learn the fascinating history behind Santa Claus, Indiana. Let the kids write letters to Santa in the original Santa Claus Post Office. They'll even receive a response in the mail, a tradition that dates back to the 1920s. At Santa's Candy Castle your grandparents might find a favorite candy from their childhood. And everyone with the slightest sweet tooth will want to taste the delicious frozen hot chocolate!Generations of Fun After all those activities, you'll all need a souvenir to remember your special family vacation. Where should you eat?

The Chateau is a local favorite, but it's great for visiting families, too. Located just outside of Santa Claus, Indiana, this restaurant offers home cooked meals and an amazing salad bar. Everyone will find something they love! St. Nick's Restaurant inside Santa's Lodge offers a breakfast buffet daily from Memorial Day through August, and weekends, September through Christmas. They also have a dinner buffet available Memorial Day through August, and visitors can order off the menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner any time of the year. Pizza is always a crowd pleaser. Try the all-you-can-eat buffet at Brick Oven Pizza, or head to Frosty's Fun Center to enjoy specialty pizzas, plus ice cream and an onsite arcade!
