Christmas Enthusiasts' Talents to be Put to the Test in Famous Christmas Town

The 2010 Santa Claus Christmas Celebration kicks off this weekend with family-friendly Christmas activities on Saturday, December 4, 2010. The family-friendly Christmas activities will include three contests: Fruitcake Eating for adults, Fastest Gift Wrapping and Fastest Christmas Tree Decorating for adults and children. "These contests allow Christmas-enthusiasts to put their holiday skills to the test in a family-friendly manner. The contests are great fun to  watch; it really gets you in the Christmas spirit and ready for the season," says Melissa Wilkinson, Executive Director of the Spencer County Visitors Bureau. Contests will take place at the Santa Claus American Legion on Saturdays from 2:00 — 4:00 p.m. CST during the three weekends of the Christmas celebration. More than $2,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded during the contests. A nominal entry fee will be required and contestants must be ages 13 years or older. America's Christmas Hometown: Santa Claus, Indiana will host a celebration of family fun on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during the first three weekends of December. Among the holiday traditions and events are a traditional Christmas Dinner with Santa; lighting of America's Hometown Christmas Tree; Rudolph's Holiday Hustle, 5K Run/Walk; "Santa Claus Land of Lights," a 1.2-mile driving journey; Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire, America's Christmas Hometown Pageant and much more.
