All New FAQs

Posted on July 7, 2021

We get a lot of questions at the Spencer County Visitors Bureau. And some we get a lot more frequently than others. So, we’ve compiled the FAQs we’ve been hearing lately… and we’re giving you the answers you’re looking for!

Q. Where can I visit Santa?

Visit Santa at the Santa Claus Haus Tuesday through Saturday! You can purchase a keepsake photo, shop unique items, and more. Plus, watch the Santa Claus Haus Facebook page for schedule announcements about where to find him around the area.

Q. Can I write a letter to Santa while I’m visiting?

You sure can! Kids (of all ages) can write a letter to Santa in the town’s original post office located at the Santa Claus Museum & Village. You can also send your letters from home. Just mail to Santa Claus, PO Box 1, Santa Claus, IN 47579, by December 18, 2021, to receive a reply by Christmas!

Q. Where can I buy discounted Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari tickets?

For the best prices on park tickets, visit the Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari website. If you know when you’re visiting, purchase a “Pick Your Date” ticket. If you have a more flexible itinerary, try an “Any Day” ticket. And if you’re a nurse, first responder, or member of the military, check out special reduced rates just for you.

Q. It’s raining! What kind of indoor activities are available?

A little rain doesn’t have to put a damper on your visit. There’s plenty of indoor fun available to help you wait out the storm! Museums, shopping, wineries… find ideas for chasing the rainy day blues away.

Q. What time does everything open/close?

Before you visit and while you’re here, this is important information to have! The attractions, stores, and restaurants throughout the area all set their own hours, so there’s no one answer to the question. But we’ve compiled a handy listing to let you know “What’s Open” when! These hours are updated every month but are always subject to change. If you have questions about a specific business’ hours, it’s always best to call in advance to double-check.

Q. Are there any events happening during my visit?

From live entertainment to local fairs and fests… it seems like there’s always something happening around the area. Be sure to check our Events page to find out what’s happening while you’re here!

Q. Where can I buy a postcard or other souvenir?

Postcards and other keepsake items are available to commemorate your visit to Santa Claus, Indiana, and sites throughout Lincoln’s Indiana Boyhood Home. Visit the Santa Claus Christmas Store, Evergreen Boutique & Christmas Shop, Holiday Foods, Santa Claus Museum & Village gift shop, Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial Visitor Center, and the Lincoln Pioneer Village & Museum gift shop.

Q. We’re hungry! Are there any good restaurants nearby?

It’s easy to work up an appetite when you’re having so much fun! And whether you’re enjoying the day at Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari or learning about Lincoln at Lincoln Pioneer Village & Museum, there’s a great place to eat nearby.

Q. Are there dog-friendly places to visit in the area?

Pets are an important part of your family, so of course, you want to travel with them! And there are plenty of spots where dogs are welcomed with open arms, including lodging, restaurants, and attractions. Check out this guide for planning your pet-friendly getaway.

Q. Can I get the special holiday picture postmark on my mail while I’m in town?

That depends on when you’re visiting. The special Santa Claus picture postmark is only available during the month of December. During December, you can visit the Santa Claus Post Office and hand cancel your mail. Not visiting in December, but want the picture postmark? When the annual postmark becomes available in December, you can mail your cards, letters, or other items to the Santa Claus Post Office and request the postmark. Watch for the announcement of the 2021 postmark guidelines in November.

Q. What time zone is Spencer County located in?

Spencer County is located in the Central time zone. However, when you’re traveling through nearby counties, you may cross into Eastern time zone… and back again! Need help figuring it out? Our handy guide will help you figure out “slow time vs. fast time,” drive times, and more.

Q. How do I get to…?

Knowing your way around the area will make your visit a lot more pleasant! Before your visit, download the destination map to see where attractions, shopping, lodging, and restaurants are located. And if you have a question while you’re here, just drop by the Visitors Bureau office and ask us for help! We’re located at 25 West Christmas Blvd, Santa Claus, Indiana, and we’re open Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm CT.
