A Postmark Adventure

Posted on December 9, 2014

Sometimes people need a little bit of tradition to get in the holiday spirit. This year, we ran into three sisters who needed just that and found the Santa Claus Postmark to be the answer. Pam Galloway traveled nearly nine hours to hand-cancel her holiday mail earlier this week. She and her two sisters from Arkansas, made the trip to Santa Claus, Indiana, for the 2014 postmark. Pam has been doing so for six years now! https://youtu.be/sobJJvMDBt4 The post office is the only one in the world with Santa's name and processes over 400,000 pieces of mail in December. That's a lot of mail for a small-town post office! Postmaster Marian Balbach is expecting to see even more mail this year. Some people drive in from all over the Midwest and even further away to postmark their mail, others ship it to the post office with a note requesting the special stamp. A common theme to add a little extra Christmas cheer to holiday mail? The Santa Claus Postmark.
