Take a Hike, or Just Walk

Trails Day

Springtime makes for a great time to take a hike, or simply a walk the many local trails. From national to state parks, horseback riding trails, and community parks… we have a trail for that!

Take advantage of spring weather and get outside. Hear the birds chirping, the leaves blowing in the breeze, and quiet, peaceful sounds of nature.

Trails to Explore:

  • Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial
There are over two miles of hiking trails throughout this park. The Trail of Twelve Stones begins at the Living Historical Farm and ends near the pioneer cemetery. And the Lincoln Boyhood Trail connects the cemetery and the farm. In addition, the Boyhood Nature Trail winds through the woods, north of the Living Historical Farm.
  • Lincoln State Park
Featuring 10 miles of hiking trails, plus two scenic lakes, the state park is an ideal spot for walking, hiking, or running.
  • Jim Yellig Park
This community park is located just north of Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari. Walking trails throughout the park offer a beautiful view from the woods, fields, and paths in between.
  • Santa’s Stables
These trails are meant to be enjoyed via horseback but a great still fit for National Trails Day! Long and short trail rides are available for meandering through the countryside.
