Sue says that the best part about answering the letters is "seeing what the kids write." She explains how some of the letters are funny, while others are sad; some children have long lists, and then some ask for Santa to give their presents to homeless boys and girls. An especially touching section of letters includes ones written to Santa about September 11, 2001. While Sue does not have a favorite letter, she did show off some of the letters on display at the museum that date back to the 1930's.
As a continuing tradition, children wishing to write to Santa should address their letters to: Santa Claus, P.O. Box 1, Santa Claus, IN 47579. "Santa's Elves" like to urge parents to check that a legible return address is included.
