Romantic (and Affordable!) Getaway

Posted on June 23, 2016

Whether you are going on vacation for the first time as a couple or celebrating your 50th wedding anniversary (congrats!), every couple needs a romantic getaway once in a while. The two of you deserve some time alone to reconnect and enjoy one another’s company—it’s just what the love doctor ordered! So, if you’re looking for something a little more secluded, charming, and out of the ordinary for your romantic getaway, the Santa Claus area and sites throughout Lincoln’s Indiana Boyhood Home may just be the perfect destination for you. And on the plus side, it’s an affordable, romantic destination!

Start planning your romantic getaway today:

  1. Begin your romantic getaway by checking into the adorable, yet modern, Corner House Bed & Breakfast. With only three guest rooms total, it’s a dreamy, private hideaway tucked between rolling forested hills and wide open farmland. You will both enjoy the private bathroom, fluffy white robes, a hot tub situated amongst trees and blooming flowers, flat screen TVs, Wi-Fi, and waking up to a hearty, homemade breakfast.
  2. Take a short stroll down a peaceful gravel road to Pepper’s Ridge Winery.  Enjoy complimentary wine tasting in the quaint ambiance or dance the evening away to live music on Saturdays. Monkey Hollow Winery is less than a thirty-minute drive from Corner House Bed & Breakfast so you can experience all varieties of our locally grown and produced wines.
  3. Share a Frozen Hot Chocolate at Santa’s Candy Castle. Your partner is your teammate in life and can also be your teammate in taking on the Avalanche Challenge, a feat that involves finishing off sixty-four ounces of delicious frozen hot chocolate. Then again, you may not want to share!Christmas Store Ornament
  4. Walk around the massive Santa Claus Christmas Store together and pick out an ornament as a souvenir. They have several diverse and delightful couples-themed ornaments to choose from and you can personalize them for free.
  5. Rent a kayak or paddle boat and sail out into Lake Lincoln together. Paddle out around dusk to enjoy a peaceful, romantic atmosphere and watch the breathtaking sunset fade behind the dense woods.
  6. Have dinner at one of our charming, local restaurants. Perhaps The Rustic or The Chateau would be fitting for the occasion with their country feel and dimmed lighting. The two of you can stare deeply into each other’s eyes while sharing a plate of The Chateau’s delectable beer-battered French fries. Okay, okay…that was a little too far, but they do have really great fries!
By the end of your trip, you won’t be able to help but fall in love all over again. Not crazy about all the mushy stuff and would rather plan a more adventurous, romantic outing? Use the “My Trip Planner” tool to plan your ideal romantic getaway.
