Famous Town's Landmarks Featured in National Advertising Campaign

Posted on November 8, 2010

Christmas-themed landmarks in the town of Santa Claus, Indiana, are featured in a national advertising campaign launched by Maurices, a woman's clothing chain. The Small Town Charm holiday campaign chose three Christmassy small towns across the U.S. Images of fashion models posing in front of some of the town's iconic statues and buildings were recently unveiled on maurices.com, in a national direct mail campaign of several million pieces, and in the chain's more than 750 outlets in 44 states. "The photo shoot took place back in August and included the historic Santa Claus statue, Santa's Candy Castle, Santa's Lodge, and other locations throughout the town," says Spencer County Visitors Bureau director Melissa Wilkinson. "It's exciting to see our county featured nationally once again in such a positive way." Santa Claus, Indiana: America's Christmas Hometown will host a celebration of family fun on the first three weekends in December. New events this year will be Rudolph's Holiday Hustle 5K Run/Walk and America's Christmas Hometown Pageant on Saturday, December 4, 2010. Other weekend events include a traditional Christmas Dinner with Santa; lighting of America's Hometown Christmas Tree; "Santa Claus Land of Lights," a 1.2-mile driving journey; Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire and much more. Special discount lodging packages are available throughout Spencer County, Indiana.
