Tourism Partners

Spencer County Visitors Bureau partners with businesses throughout the county to promote all of the attractions, accommodations, and dining options. Using consumer research and strategic marketing, we work together to develop an integrated promotion and communication plan that allows for these successful partnerships. Working together and leveraging resources allows all tourism partners to reach a larger potential audience.

Tourism Resources

The Spencer County Tourism Commission was established in 1994 to help make the area a leading year-round overnight destination for families, and oversee the expenditures of proceeds collected by the county’s innkeeper’s tax.

Spencer County attracted more than 1 million unique visitors in the 2011 summer season. Tourism spending is an estimated $72 million in total sales, supporting 3,750 jobs and generating about $50 million in personal income.

-According to 2011 Economic Impact Research

In 2015, a non-profit organization, America’s Christmas Hometown, was formed to coordinate the Santa Claus Christmas Celebration. This marketing campaign promotes the area and the special time of year to families within the Indianapolis and Louisville markets, among others.
